Verizon Wireless just launched the Motorola Krave ZN4 this morning, a flip-touch phone that slightly resembles the Motorola Ming, albeit without the smartphone functionality. The dark-titanium gray clam shell shaped Krave is a wild looking device.

Color us as unsurprised as ever, but Motorola’s unique, if not fancy, Krave ZN4 just got official. Verizon Wireless, bringing with it two layers of touch — one on the interactive clear flip outside and another with the full 2.8-inch touchscreen inside. You’ll also find support for V CAST Mobile TV, V CAST Video, V CAST Music with Rhapsody and VZ Navigator, not to mention the 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, HTML browser and visual voicemail capabilities. It’s in stores today for a buck fifty after signing away your cellular soul for two years and waiting ages for a $50 mail-in rebate to arrive in your mailbox.

Motorola Krave ZN4 Features

  • Flip and Touch
  • Krave combines touch-screen functionality with the flip feature users are accustomed to in a standard mobile phone.
  • Motorola is touting the phone’s “two layers of touch.”
  • Open - With the flip open, the phone uses haptic technology that provides “reassuring sensory feedback so you know your touch was registered,” according to the ZN4 spec sheet.
  • Closed - With the flip closed, the clear flip cover helps protect the touch screen underneath, and a side key locks access to the external buttons, preventing accidental use when the phone is in your purse or pocket. But the interactive clear flip cover provides fast, one-touch access to the camera, picture gallery, live TV1, music, VZ Navigator1, and viewing of pictures and text messages.

Accelerometer

  • Fast becoming a standard phone feature, the accelerometer detects rotation and movement to change the display accordingly.

Visual Voice Mail

  • Visual voice mail feature adds a visual aspect to voice mail, like e-mail, allowing users to pick and choose which voice mails to listen to and in what order.

QWERTY Keypad

  • A virtual landscape QWERTY keypad, haptic feedback.

Direct Mobile E-mail Access

  • Direct access to personal e-mail accounts with mobile e-mail from Verizon Wireless.

Media Tools

  • V CAST Mobile TV, V CAST Music with Rhapsody, visual voice mail, mobile e-mail, HTML browser, streaming video and support for up to 8GB microSD optional removable memory.
